De Dakota Makoċe - This is Dakota Land

Support cultural and environmental healing in Imnižaska this Earth Month!

Donate today and help us reach our goal of $7,500 to ensure our work in Environmental Education, Urban Conservation & Restoration, and Cultural Connections & Healing continues. This Earth Month, all those who donate will be eligible* to receive a limited edition Summer 2024 “De Dakota Makoce” lawn sign, which can be picked up at our Earth Day Clean Up at Wakan Tipi on Saturday, April 20th (see details below).

*These signs are available in limited quantity while supplies last.

Your gift helps us to:

  • Restore native ecosystems in shared green spaces on the East Side

  • Develop programs to engage Indigenous youth in environmental stewardship

  • Offer virtual and in-person environmental and cultural education programs to the community

  • Plant medicine gardens with the urban Indigenous community

  • Center and grow inclusive and accessible spaces in the outdoors for BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and folks with disabilities

  • Collaborate with state, city, and tribal leaders on Indigenous-led land restoration and conservation efforts

Take Action!

There are many ways to get involved during Earth Month! However, it’s important to recognize that caring for our communities and the earth we share goes beyond Earth Day. Dakota people have always recognized that land stewardship and kinship are not only interconnected, but are core values that define our way of being. This Earth Month, take time to reflect on the ways you’ve cared for the land and people around you, and think about what you can do to continue or build upon these efforts moving forward.
